About The Artist
JaNeil was born in 1956, in Safford, Ariz., and was raised in nearby Duncan, on her parents’ farm on the Gila River. She grew up watching as her dad drew and created wonderful pen-and-ink drawings and oil paintings. JaNeil used her God-given talents, even as a child, to draw with a pencil. She then progressed to pastel then on to oil, which she prefers today. Through the years she lived on various cattle ranches in the Southwest and has first-hand experience gathering and branding cattle and cooking for the cowboys.
During this time she received a certificate from Art Instruction Schools, Minneapolis, Minnesota in Basic Art Studies. She has also studied under CA artists James Reynolds and R.S. Riddick.
Anderson is currently a member of Western Artists of America, Oil Painters of America, and a Signature Artist with American Plains Artist.
Anderson now lives with her husband Walt on their third generation cattle ranch on the Gila River in Southern New Mexico.
